Rice is in the vanguard of creating future leaders, developing globally aware graduates with an understanding of broad cultural and policy implications and an appreciation of the fertile ground found at the intersection of disciplines. 

A quarter of our undergraduates earn degrees in two or more disciplines – nearly half with at least one STEM major – so Rice graduates understand the importance cross-disciplinary collaboration and innovation.

Our graduate programs in the sciences, business, engineering and the humanities consistently place high in the national and global rankings.  And our MBA graduates are ready to move directly into leadership careers, many of them with combined MBA/STEM degrees.  

Because we urge our students to complete at least one professional internship before graduation, Rice is a great resource for internship programs seeking high-quality applicants.

Rice’s Center for Career Development facilitates connections between employers and undergraduates, non MBA-graduate students, and Ph.D. students.  In addition to internships and job placements, this includes the Owl Edge Externship program, a one- to five-day job shadowing experience that allows students to explore career options and gain a realistic perspective of an industry, launched in 2015. This experience also allows companies the opportunity to determine if a student would be a good fit for a longer-term internship.
